Free-Night Giveaway Winner Dana Clement!

Sometime soon Dana Clement and her husband George will be relaxing at The Dansereau House, perhaps rocking on the veranda with a cool drink. They might decide later to take a stroll downtown and have a nice dinner. Of the over 100 entrees in our free-night giveaway during our Ribbon Cutting and Open House, Dana’s card was the winner.

Dana has been married to George for almost 22 years, and they have two daughters, Brittani and Brandi. The Clements moved to Thibodaux 15 years ago after George was transferred to the area’s Wal-Mart. “Moving here was the best thing for my whole family,” she added. She works as an Administrative Assistant at the Lafourche Parish Public Library. The library is a member of the Chamber of Commerce, and Dana saw the announcement for the Ribbon-Cutting in the Chamber newsletter and decided to attend.

She admits to being excited when she learned she was the winner, and remembers coming to the Dansereau House many times when it operated as a restaurant. Although there is no restaurant in operation now, the house has hosted many special events already, and now has six suites available in the bed & breakfast.

“In October we will celebrate our 22 years of being married, and I think this would be a great way to celebrate,” Dana said.

Senator Butch Gautreaux at the Dansereau House

The Dansereau House lit up for another political event Thursday evening, August 12, when supporters of Butch Gautreaux met for a ‘meet and greet’ with the candidate and his family.

According to Houma Today, Tri-parish state Sen. Butch Gautreaux is one of four Democrats vying against five Republicans to become Louisiana’s 49th lieutenant governor

“I entered the race because I didn’t see anyone qualifying who really understands the threat our way of life is under,” Gautreaux said.

Sweet Sensations at TARC makes Sweet Pillow Treats!

One of our goals at the Dansereau House, is to open the house up to the community. In doing this, we feel that it is vital to utilize our local talent whenever possible. I am so pleased to have my “Pillow Treats”, the little prizes left at bedside each evening, made by the wonderful people at TARC (Terrebonne Association for Retarded Citizens).

TARC has been instrumental in creating jobs for adults with intellectual and other developmental disabilities since 1962. As a part of TARC Enterprises, Sweet Sensations Confections provides chocolate candies for all types of businesses throughout the area. Their products are made from scratch with only the finest ingredients. They make the delicious chocolates, embossed with our initial D, that I am proud to place by our guests’ bedside each night.

I was honored to tour the Sweet Sensations facility, and witness the beautiful chocolates being molded and inspected by TARC clients. I was impressed with the pristine work environment, and the cheerful chocolatiers  who made our treats.
